Welcome to our microphone collection.
Aside from the usual collection of studio mics, such as CADs,
Shure sm57s, and sm58s, we have a great collection of mics
that we're very proud of. We are always adding and upgrading
mics in our collection. Below is our current collection...
|
|

(Our
"Star" vocal mic)This is the same mic used by Alison Kraus, and several
other popular artists. Believe it or not, it is preferred
over the Neumann U47(a popular classic vocal tube mic that
is no longer manufactured). It is modeled completely spec
for spec after the Neumann U47 , right down to each component.
It sounds identical to the Neumann U47. It has the same warmth
and fullness except it has a more consistent clarity, which
is why it's preferred over the old Neumann U47s. It also sounds
amazing on acoustic instruments, upright bass and just outside
the kick drum.
|

This particular vintage mic is one of Neumann's small
"tube" condensers. It's a great sounding
mic on acoustic instuments..

|
|

This mic is the preferred standard for acoustic recordings
and is, of course, one of our favorites. It has great clarity
and tone.
|

For that classic large ribbon mic sound. This is a
great sounding ribbon microphone. And like all ribbon mics,
its very delicate and should only be handled by the engineer.
|
|

Another great sounding large diaphragm tube microphone. This
mic in particular has a new 'old stock' Telefunken tube in
it. This is a great sounding vocal microphone. It was our
top runner before we bought the Soundelux e47. This mic is
used for many of the same types applications as the Soundelux
e47. I use it outside the kick drum head on full band sessions
when the e47 is being used for fiddle or another utility instrument.
|

Sounding as true and full as any 4050 you've ever heard. A
great, versatile large diaphragm microphone. We've recorded
some great bluegrass though this mic along with our other
mics too of course.
|
|

These are good sounding mics that allow for upper frequencies
without being too bright.
|

A very warm and true sounding large diaphragm tube
microphone. This mic is extremely true. So if your looking
for more color (other than its tube warmth), you might be
better off using something like the AT4050. This thing
sounds incredible on banjo believe it or not.

s
Industry standard condenser mics for acoustic instruments
and overheads. These are great, versatile mics that do their
job well.
|

s
What studio doesn't have Shure sm57s. They're an Industry standard
choice for electric guitar amps and snare drums. I stray from
using them on occasion if I'm going for something in particular.
I like to use large diaphragm mics on amps sometimes as well.
|
|

This mic is also useful in the studio for general, peripheral,
or non-critical applications. It's according to what you're
looking for sound-wise.
|

This is a very versatile 1" large diaphragm condenser
studio and stage microphone used for both vocal and instrumental
applications. It is a good alternative for female vocals.
|
|

This is a very versatile small diaphragm condenser
mic. It's great for horns, woodwinds, acoustics and has clean
uncolored sibilants..
|

Cardioid Broadcast Microphone. The RE20 is pretty killer on
floor toms too. We use Audix D2s for the high toms, as shown
below.
|
|

(Inside Kick Mic)
This is a kick-butt kick mic. It's all the crack and punch
you'll ever need. We also use a large diaphragm tube mic just
outside the kick drum as well to add a resonant fatness to
the sound. It's according to what other instruments are being
miked during the tracking, as to whether I use the Soundelux
e47 Tube or the AT4060 Tube mic for the outside kick. Either
way our kick sound is pretty amazing with this combo and rivals
any other drum recordings I've heard.

(Drum
Toms & Percussion)
The Ideal Mic For That Big Tom Sound!
For bringing out the real, dynamic sound of your drum toms
and congas, nothing beats the D-2! The D-2 accurately reproduces
the warmth and punch you listen for from percussion, leaving
out the muddy, indistinct "boom" that can mar recordings.
The D-2's natural warmth also makes it a great mic for saxophones
and other woodwinds requiring a true, sensitive, yet big,
reproduction.
|
|

We use this mic for applications such as snare or Hi-Hat.
It is typically used in the same way a sm57 is used, but has
it's own unique sound, which sounds as good if not better
that an sm57. It's according to what you're going for.
|

These are good mics for general, peripheral applications.
They are also useful on brass and woodwind instruments.
